Choosing Islands
The Mamanuca Islands, closest to the main airport in Nadi, are the most accessible for a shorter trip, with a good range of resorts from budget to luxury and easy day-trip access between islands.
The Yasawa Islands, further north, are less developed and better suited to travellers wanting a quieter, more remote experience, the trade-off is longer boat transfers and a more limited resort selection.
Diving and Culture
Fiji is often called the soft coral capital of the world, and the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni Island in particular offers some of the best diving visibility and coral density anywhere in the South Pacific.
